So what is wetting & dispersing?

Since the formulation of most paints and coatings involves the addition of pigments (usually in solid form), it becomes essential to stabilize them without settling or separation.

It is essential to stabilize these powders which otherwise could lead to problems like settling, aggregation, can drying, and/or reduced shelf life

    Technology

Wetting and dispersing agents are generally a class of anionic or non-ionic surfactants with functional modifications. They attach to the surface of the solid particles, preventing particle-particle attraction which is usually responsible for aggregation. These additives have an anchoring group, which connects to the solid particle and tail which interacts with the resin to stabilize the pigments and extenders.

Amongst different available solutions, it becomes essential to select a suitable product depending on factors such as particle size and distribution of powders, particle geometry, surface area, density, binder compatibility, and more. This stabilization mechanism is usually electrostatic repulsion for aqueous systems in which secondary interactions such as hydrogen bonding work to disperse them, and the mechanism for non-aqueous systems is steric repulsion.  Not only do they prevent aggregation or settling, but these chemicals also prevent the drying of paints during storage which improves the shelf-life of paints and coatings.

    Our Products

    SP-100 Additive

    Description
    Advantages

SP-100 Additive is a blend of alkoxylated surfactants. It is used in a wide range of applications like paints, agrochemicals, surfactants for detergents, industrial cleaners, oil and gas processing, construction chemicals, superabsorbent and synthetic lubricants.

    • Excellent sticking properties.
    • Good compatibility with other paint additives and surface active agents.
    • Excellent wetting, dispersing, and emulsifying properties.

    Acrylic Polymer CE SD

    Description
    Advantages

Acrylic polymer CE-SD is a dispersant polymer that is designed explicitly for high mineral loading into different applications. Additive adsorbs upon various minerals and clay particles and stabilizes the system by the electro-steric repulsion mechanism. It significantly reduces the viscosity of high mineral-loaded systems to maintain their flow and other physiochemical properties. Thus, it helps to design high mineral volume systems without affecting the other properties. It prevents the aggregation of particles thereby preventing the instability in the system.

    • Longer casting range.
    • Controlled thixotropy.
    • Improved viscosity stability.
    • Reduces hard spots, yellow spots, or soda spots.

To deliver sustainable solutions that enhance the performance and aesthetics of the paints and coatings for different applications, enabling our customers to be a step ahead of the competitors and develop a benchmark in upcoming technologies for paints and coatings.
