What is the role of resin in performance coatings?

Resins are the backbone of the paints/coatings and generally have the highest dosage in the formulation of high-performance coatings. Their primary function is to form a uniform film over the substrate that adheres well to it and protects the substrate from external stimuli which may otherwise damage the underneath surface or structure.

    Technology

Resins and dispersions are essentially one of the most important raw materials taken into consideration while designing a formulation for a specific type of coating which is to serve a specific application. Selection depends on the type of application, desired curing, and functional stability (for eg. resistance against corrosion, heat, UV stability, etc.), environmental and physical conditions, stress profiles, and many more parameters.

These reins and dispersions are tailored to perform in extreme conditions (depending on the target application), all thanks to the functional modification which enables them to maintain their properties without any significant loss/ degradation in performance. Our products in this category specifically address corrosion-inhibition and heat-resistant areas.

    Our Products

    Alk-PU-520

    Description
    Advantages

Alk-PU 520 is a modified alkyd resin that is developed for 1k and 2k solvent-borne industrial coatings. It provides fast-drying, high gloss finish and has superior exterior stability, making it suitable for high-performance industrial primers and top coats.

    • The versatility of use in both 1K and 2K coating systems, along with good compatibility with a range of solvents.
    • Imparts high gloss and provides fast drying.
    • Improved mechanical properties such as scratch and impact resistance.
    • Provides excellent corrosion-resistant, especially when used in 2k systems with a suitable crosslinker.

    HR-70

    Description
    Advantages

PK-HR70 is a hybrid binder tailored to address high-performance industrial heat resistance applications. It is designed to withstand temperatures up to 600 oC, with appropriate formulation. It has superior adhesion and a very low coefficient of thermal expansion, providing higher resistance against thermal expansion and shock.

    • The formulated paint based on it has sufficiently low viscosity to be sprayed upon the substrate without any preheating process.
    • One of its novel properties of it is the combined heat (up to 400 oC)- and corrosion resistance when formulated with Zinc.
    • Curing and touch-dry properties at room temperature.
    • Single-component paints can be manufactured using this binder.

    HSR-XM-312

    Description
    Advantages

HSR XM-312 is a specialty-modified acrylic resin copolymer. It is specially designed for advanced coatings applications with superior performance in extreme exposure conditions. It acts as an excellent adhesion promoter for the thermoplastic polyolefin and EPDM-based systems by enhancing inter-coat adhesion. Its compatibility with a wide range of solvents makes this product easy to incorporate into a wide range of systems.

    • Excellent film performance.
    • Super-high strength with enhanced scratch resistance.
    • Improves adhesion on various substrates such as TPO, PP, EPDM, and metal substrates without surface pre-treatments.
    • Excellent weatherability along with superior chemical resistance.
    • Compatible with a range of solvents: MEK, Xylene, Butyl Acetate, etc.

To deliver sustainable solutions that enhance the performance and aesthetics of the paints and coatings for different applications, enabling our customers to be a step ahead of the competitors and develop a benchmark in upcoming technologies for paints and coatings.
